Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl achieved his aim of successfully avoiding relegation from the Premier League in the campaign of 2018/19 with a couple of games to spare and we were looking to end the season on a high when we welcomed Huddersfield Town to St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday.

The final day’s action didn’t exactly go to plan as even though we took the lead through Nathan Redmond shortly before the halftime break, the visitors levelled ten minutes into the second half and that was where the scoring finished on the day.

A point and a draw, just a shame we couldn’t get a second, but Hasenhuttl will know what he needs to do over the summer now.

Statistics website Whoscored gave Redmond their star man award and Man of the Match with a player rating of 8.91.

Completing the top five on the day were Oriol Romeu (7.20), Danny Ings (7.18), Jan Bednarek (6.86) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (6.74).

All eyes to a better summer and then hopefully a far better 2019/20.
