Southampton made the trip to the Molineux to face last season’s Championship title winners on Saturday, and it turned into another bad day as Wolverhampton Wanderers took all three points available.

With just one win from our opening seven Premier League matches, the pressure is increasing on manager Mark Hughes, it wasn’t a bad performance by any means, it was just another impotent showing in the final third – from a statistics front we actually edged the game – they just took their chances and predictably we didn’t.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was our standout player according to WhoScored.com and they gave his performance a rating of 7.45.

The 23-year-old is certainly adding more consistency to his game now and he’s regularly featuring amongst our best players on a given matchday, but whilst Wolves had ten players poll above 7, only Mohamed Elyounoussi and Ryan Bertrand joined Hojbjerg and that probably tells its own story really.

Things need to change quickly.
