Saints Match Zone

2 Shots, 1 Key Pass & Only 22 Touches Sees Southampton Star Lift MotM

In some ways, Southampton may have missed an opportunity for our third win of the 2019/20 campaign at the weekend as we made the trip to Tottenham Hotspur’s new swanky stadium.

The hosts opened the scoring but soon found themselves reduced to ten men after a second bookable offence for Serge Aurier, and although Danny Ings got us back on level terms, Harry Kane nicked it and despite some good efforts in the final 45, we couldn’t get ourselves back on the scoresheet.

It always sounds simple with a man’s advantage but it doesn’t always work out that way.

Statistics website Whoscored had mixed player ratings after that one, and goalscorer Ings took Man of the Match with a score of 7.31.

Completing the top five on the day in their system were Maya Yoshida (7.04), Ryan Bertrand (7.01), Jan Bednarek (6.99) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Onto Chelsea next and if not another positive result, a positive performance.
