4 Shots, 1 Key Pass & 2 Tackles Takes Southampton Star To MotM As We Take Bragging Rights Over Portsmouth

|

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl experienced his first taste of a Portsmouth derby on Tuesday evening as we made the trip to Fratton Park for the EFL Cup third round clash.

Whilst we didn’t have the game all our own way, a brace from Danny Ings in the first half, with further goals from Cedric Soares and Nathan Redmond gave us a comfortable 4-0 win by the full time whistle and progression and bragging rights were ours.

Statistics website Whoscored were obviously complimentary in their player ratings after the margin of our victory and they gave their star man award to Ings for his goal return on the day with a score of 9.08.

Completing the top five best performers in their system were Maya Yoshida (8.23), Cedric Soares (7.98), Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (7.93) and goalkeeper Alex McCarthy (7.82).

Given the overall performance on the night, Jan Bednarek, James Ward-Prowse, Oriol Romeu, Che Adams, Nathan Redmond and Michael Obafemi all received seven plus scores for their efforts.
