As a Southampton fan, it is sometimes easy to forget that there is a legion of players out on loan this season for one reason or another, yet Wesley Hoedt has made headlines this weekend for all the wrong reasons.

The 25-year-old centre-back was sent off in Royal Antwerp’s 2-1 victory over Cercle Brugge this weekend, a result that was made that much funnier when you consider Hoedt was sent off just eight minutes in with his side already trailing a goal down.
Hoedt has quickly become an enemy towards some Saints fans in recent months due to his comments about Ralph Hasenhuttl, so as you would expect, a few supporters on social media were in bits with how his performance this weekend went with him being sent off and his loan side managing to complete a comeback with him off the pitch.
Here’s what some Southampton fans had to say on Twitter about Hoedt’s sending off…
They were probably a more balanced outfit without him!!!

As records from Transfermarkt show, Hoedt is just one of eight Saints players currently out on loan this season.
