Southampton will go into this one on a huge high.

After their 1-0 victory against last season’s Premier League champions Manchester City, the Saints now have the perfect momentum to push for a top 10 finish.

Since the restart of the 2019/20 campaign, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have picked up nine points from their first four games back and continue their push for a top 10 finish.

The Austrian tactician said that he is targeting a hat-trick of wins from their encounter against Everton, and believes that his side will require a “perfect” performance if they are to do so.

Here’s who we think will line-up against the Toffees on Thursday.

We expect Southampton to set up in their simplistic 4-4-2 formation. A system that they have found great success with since the temporary suspension of the season.

Alex McCarthy should be the man standing between the sticks and the back four in front of him should be unchanged, with Ryan Bertrand, Jan Bednarek, Jack Stephens and Kyle Walker-Peters standing in front of him. The 23-year-old Tottenham loanee has recently increased his stay at St Mary’s and his impressive performance against Manchester City should earn him a starting place.

We also expect to see the midfield quartet maintained, with Nathan Redmond, Oriol Romeu, James Ward-Prowse and Stuart Armstrong lining up in front of the defenders.

Che Adams should be rewarded by the boss after his fantastic goal last time out, and hopefully will light the blue touch paper as far as his goalscoring is concerned, with the Golden Boot-chasing Danny Ings alongside him.
