Nigel Adkins has said he is disappointed tonight because he feels we started brightly and should have taken something from the game.

Speaking to saintsfc the manager admitted he had mixed emotions following our changing fortunes.

‘In the first period we created some good opportunities. Their goalkeeper has made some good saves and we’ve hit the crossbar, so everything was positive but from my point of view it was a disappointing goal we’ve conceded. Goals change the complexion of games. Having started with 433, I’ve made the call – and that’s my responsibility – to put Adam out wide and Jay up front. But, in the next ten minute period, we allowed Wigan far too much possession of the football. We have to give ourselves an opportunity to go and score goals, but we ended up chasing it a little too much. There are positives we’ll take from it, but we’ll underline things.’

It’s a steep learning curve for the lads, but they’ll get there. We aren’t being trounced in games and we are giving a good account of ourselves, so if we can cut out the errors and learn more about the pace of the league, there will be points for the taking.
