Adkins Rues Errors

Not only our own, but also the referee’s in the loss to West Brom.

Speaking to saintsfc the gaffer was very disappointed with the man in charge, and was just as disappointed with some of our defending again.

‘If you look at the first goal, it’s a blatant handball. The fourth official tried to tell the referee four times and he didn’t react, but you’ve got to have a desire to close the man down before he has a shot. At one nil we were still in the game and we had a couple of opportunities, Lambert hits the crossbar and the goalkeeper made a couple of saves. The second goal was shocking. We’ve got two centre halves against one on the half way line, and they got into the channel too easily. The lad has gone and scored even though we’re actually marking him.’

Outside of that Adkins thought our approach to the game was spot on, and was pleased with the week’s training but again it falls down on the day.

Importantly he also talks about confidence knocks and having to instill a belief in the players again, which is clearly affecting us now. We need that bit of luck for a confidence shot, and I suppose we have to hope it comes against Swansea.
