Saints Leisure Holdings PLC joint administrator Mark Fry has revealed there has been interest in buying the club.

Between 15 and 20 interested parties have contacted the administrators from Begbies Traynor regarding the sale of Southampton Football Club.

Speaking to the official website, Mr Fry spoke about the interest: “The latest news is that we’ve had between 15 and 20 enquiries, but at this early stage it’s very difficult to say how many of those are truly serious,” Fry explained.

“Having said that, we truly believe that there are a number of seriously interested parties amongst those who have the wherewithal to acquire the club.”

The administrators were appointed last Thursday when the holding company went into administration, and both Mark Fry and David Hudson have been working hard to find a buyer.

“You always get a large interest with football clubs and clearly a number of those are always exploring the situation more than they are interested in buying, but we’ll sift them out early on.

“It’s early stages, and we know from phone calls that we’ve had that there’s more interest to follow, but at the moment there’s no reason not to be encouraged.”
