Alex is a player that has quickly become a firm favourite of the Saints fans. With his direct approach and willingness to take on opponents he has shown a capability that is oh so rare.
Born on 15th August 1993 in Portsmouth he joined Southampton at the tender age of seven.
March 2nd saw Alex make his first team debut as a substitute, in the game that Saints won 5-0 against Huddersfield Town. This made him the second youngest player appearance maker behind Theo Walcott.
His first full start in a competitive game was in the match with Bournemouth in the first round of the League Cup. He scored the second and decisive goal to ensure our win.
As stated he was born in Portsmouth and is the son of former Pompey and England player Mark Chamberlain.
If Alex continues to develop as he is he has every chance of emulating his father and also becoming an international player.
Saints fans have not seen a great deal of him yet but yesterday when substituted by Dean Wilkins with Joseph Mills the ground reverberated to the loud uncompromising sound of booing.
This alone speaks volumes on how we the fans think he is progressing. Yesterday he was clearly the best player on the pitch wearing our white strip with the red sash.
