Alex in coming on for the final 10 minutes against Huddersfiels has gone down in Saints history. The youngster is extremely highly rated by all at the club and is now officially the second youngest graduate to play for the first team.

The midfielder’s rapid developement this season has reminded Stewart Henderson of how Gareth Bale made rapid progress in 2005-6.’Alex has always looked good but this year he has come on in leaps and bounds’ said Henderson

Last year the worry was about Alex having enough pace and athleticism. This year he has grown and gained in pace and athleticism. He has very good ball control and has looked really good.

Henderson continued ‘I saw him a couple of times last year for the under 16’s when there were certain things he now has in his locker that were missing.’

It sounds as though this young lad has what it takes to make a big impression. It will be a big bonus if we can add to our team from the academy players that we are bringing forward. This is hopefully the first of many more.
