Manager Mauricio Pochettino has spoken of his pride at the team following their victory over Everton yesterday.

Two first half own goals were enough to see us to victory and all three points on the day against an Everton side chasing a top four finish, and the gaffer believed we were definitely worthy of the win given our performance and the chances we created.

Speaking to saintsfc following the game, Poch was delighted to see us return to winning ways .

‘I think the overall team performance was amazing. To beat a team such as Everton, you have to have an amazing overall performance and that is what we had. I’m pleased in the way that we played and how we performed against a team that has won seven out of eight and is trying to break into the top four and break into the Champions League. I am very pleased.’

Pochettino goes on to say that he’s delighted for the team because he certainly knows they put the effort in and it was a result that they had deserved as he doesn’t feel that over the course of the season we’ve always got the results that our play should’ve returned for us, and he also passed credit onto the medical department for their efforts during the season given the injuries that we have suffered stating that although their work goes on behind closed doors and few people ever get to see what they do, he doesn’t feel this victory would’ve been possible without their hard work, especially in recent times.

The gaffer also had praise for the fans aswell given their continued backing of the team, as he knows the players have really appreciated this all season long.
