There’s little more than an hour and change left in the summer’s permanent transfer window and we’re well into deadline day and life has been quiet at Southampton.

There are a few stories doing the rounds though that are worth noting but it’s looking increasingly like manager Mark Hughes’ words about deadline day being a non-event for us, having done our business earlier in the window, looks likely to be true unless things spark into life now.

The long-running saga of Fulham’s interest in fullback Matt Targett continues with reports of a fresh offer of £15million. Southampton have rejected this offer also, even if it’s closer to the valuations fans would’ve wanted to see. Source.

With James Ward-Prowse linked with Watford, the Sun have now linked Burnley with an interest and suggest that both clubs are close to agreeing a £15million deal – which still seems pathetic in my mind – so hopefully there’s nothing in that one.

The Sportsman have us tentatively linked with Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck, who is apparently surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium. The 27-year-old does only have 12 months left on his contract so a deal could be done potentially but there’s no hard or fast information on this speculation.

Finally, Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan has tweeted that we continue to have an interest in Liverpool striker Danny Ings, but we are yet to agree a fee for the player.

The fee spoken about remains in the region of £20million but we haven’t matched it yet.

Could be an interesting hour a bit…
