On Saturday afternoon, Southampton put relegation worries behind them in the Premier League campaign of 2018/19 as new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl helped the group get over the line as we welcomed Bournemouth to St Mary’s Stadium.

A victory would’ve made relegation a mathematical impossibility given the layout of the top flight table, but as it was, fans were treated to a hugely entertaining game that swung both ways before each side settled for a point in a 3-3 draw by the fulltime whistle.

Goals from Shane Long, James Ward-Prowse and Matt Targett, added to the fact that Cardiff City lost their game, meant we ended the weekend seven points clear with only two games remaining in the season.

With Hasenhuttl, players and fans alike celebrating, and hoping that there are far brighter days ahead once again now, former player Steven Davis took to social media to send his own congratulations along to his former colleagues.

A nice touch given his lengthy service at the club, and hopefully his own future gets sorted out soon enough.
