It was being reported extremely late yesterday evening that Inter Milan were believed to be in ‘advanced talks’ with Southampton over European Cup winning fullback Cedric Soares.
The 27-year-old Portuguese international has been off the boil in the eyes of many fans for the last couple of seasons as Southampton struggled in the Premier League and although his game time has been relatively decent so far in the campaign of 2018/19, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl seems to prefer youngster Yann Valery and game time could again become limited for Soares once Ryan Bertrand returns to full fitness.
With it known that Hasenhuttl wants to trim the pack further as he eyes additions of his own, it’s not a stretch to believe the time is up for our 2015 arrival.
Should he depart without playing another game in our shirt, he would leave with a total of 115 starts and four showings from the substitutes bench. Having paid Sporting a reported £4.7million for his services, largely he’s given us good service and we should certainly make a telling profit that can then be reinvested in the group.
