Manager Ronald Koeman and goal scorer on the day, midfielder Oriol Romeu, have both given their thoughts following the two one FA Cup third round loss to Crystal Palace.

Hosting former manager Alan Pardew’s side at St Mary’s Stadium for the game, Southampton’s league form bled into the Cup competition as they found themselves a goal behind just ahead of the half hour mark.

Working hard to get back on level terms shortly after the half time restart, Palace hit back with just over 20 minutes remaining the game to take the victory and book their place in the fourth round of the competition.

The frustration for Koeman was again in knowing that edging possession and clearly being more productive than the visitors in the final third – it was another game that should’ve had a different result – but woeful and wasteful finishing along with slips at the back leave the side with another defeat.
