For a long time, it looked like European Championship winning full back Cedric Soares would be moving on from Southampton as he struggled with his form and ultimately ended up losing his place in the side.
The 28-year-old had been a fan favourite following his efforts on the right hand side of the pitch at St Mary’s Stadium following his £4.7million arrival from Sporting Lisbon, and the Portuguese international does boast just over 100 appearances to his name at the club, but in the second half of last season he made the switch out to Inter Milan on a loan spell, and with only nine appearances, it wasn’t a great success and no buy deal was arranged.
Enjoyed that. Great win and fantastic work from all the team. Thanks to the fans for the amazing support.#SaintsFC #PremierLeague #win pic.twitter.com/WNDnoSSzww

Having returned over the summer, whilst he still had to be patient, it seemed manager Ralph Hasenhuttl was going to give him a clean slate, and he now has three appearances in 2019/20 to his name, with the last one coming against Sheffield United as we took a 1-0 victory last weekend.
Reflecting on his performance, both on the right and left of defence, plenty of fans were happy with the commitment he showed on the pitch as we kept our third clean sheet in a row on our travels.
Tell you what? I’m very glad Cedric came back to us. He was hugely important today and great move by the boss putting him as RB after the break which relieved pressure on Vestergaard, stifling the Sheff Utd tactics.
Good team performance, fantastic goal!#wemarchon #saintsfc— Dan Fox (@bfgfox) September 14, 2019

Average performance, great result yesterday. Cedric and Vestergaard were superb. Romeu again MOTM. Djenepo and Boufal as our creative outlet were good again and Gunn improving nicely. Tough place to go. On to the Blue Rinse brigade Friday. Good weekend around #SaintsFC
