League Two side Notts County are hoping that Leon Best does decide to leave Southampton.

Due to Best being under 24, Southampton could be due compensation, with the Nottingham Evening Post speculating that a figure could be around the £500,000 mark.

If that was true then County would receive five-figure fee as part of a previous sell-on clause.

Notts chief executive Geoff Davey, told the paper: ‘If Leon Best was to move from Southampton at the end of the season, or in the future, they would be entitled to compensation.

‘And as part of the original deal, we would receive part of that from a sell-on clause.’
