It’s being reported that Southampton have had a £6m offer for goalkeeper Jack Butland rejected by Birmingham.

The Birmingham Mail confirm the rumour.

Talksport also suggest that the rejection will infuriate the player who liked the idea of moving to St Mary’s for Premiership football.

Birmingham have talked about only considering ‘eye popping’ offers for the player, and I’d have thought £6m would’ve come into that category for a player who has yet to make a first team debut for the club, but apparently not.

I suspect this one will rumble on for the summer, as it’s being suggested that both Arsenal and Manchester City have also been scouting the player who was thrust into the football limelight after being selected as third choice goalkeeper by England boss Roy Hodgson.

In other transfer gossip it’s being suggested that we are going to try and hijack Fulham’s move for Vitesse Arnhem’s 23 year old Alexander Buttner.

He has been round Craven Cottage and Loftus Road, but no deals have been done yet, meaning Saints can steal in if we so wish.
