SOUTHAMPTON manager George Burley is happy that he has finally signed a player during the January transfer window.

28 year old Polish striker Marek Saganowski will take the number 4 shirt while he completes his season long loan deal at SMS.

It is believed that Saints also have a ?1 million option to buy the player.

Burley told the official site: ‘I am very pleased to add Marek to the squad for the rest of the season.

It gives us strength up front. We have quite a young strikeforce so he will give us a bit of experience.

‘I watched him play in Portugal and he has good movement, gets into good positions and across his man in the box and he has a decent shot.

He is a good finisher who played for the full national side in the summer and he will be a good acquisition.’

  • He’s a Polish international so he must be fairly good. I’m hoping him and Rasiak will already know each other’s games and forge a good partnership.
