Ex-Saint Peter Reid will be bring the The ‘Pilgrims’ to Southampton and may well have more ex Saints on board as well.

Bradley Wright-Phillips is likely to be in the squad as is Lee Molyneux, who we released in the close season this year.

Bradley began his football career as a pro at Manchester City where his older half-brother still plays. He played his first game for City on 6th December 2004 and scored on his debut within minutes of sterting.

BWP played 32 rimes for City but was never able to produce the goals needed to secure a long term future at the club.

Southampton bought him for $500,000 in the summer of 2006. Part of this fee, £250,000, being paid with a prize from Coca Cola after a fans competition.

Again BWP started his spell with a club with a goal. Away to Derby he scored on his Saints’ debut and then scored a magnificent goal against Wolves at St Mary’s.

Sadly he was unable to maintain this form and after Saints got relegated at the end of season 2008/09 he was released. Plymouth stepped in and now he faces a return to St Mary’s as an opponent for the first time.

Lee Molyneux was picked up by Saints on a free but has had the misfortune to have a series of niggles and never settled down at the club.

He played four games for the Saints and in the 4th got two yellow cards and was sent off never to return, after joining us in the January transfer window.

On March 25th he was sent out on loan to Port Vale but he was unable to get a game in the league. Saints released him in this close season and is now on a five month contract.

At Southampton we have an old Plymouth favourite, Paul Wotton, who could play for us on saturday. Paul has had a mixed reption from Saints fans as we feel he has had his best days.

He has gradually lost what pace he had and for me is no longer able to play at this level adequately. He seems to play now from the bench and gets used to try to shore up the defence when we have a slender lead late in the game.
