After a very tense and hard-fought game with Bournemouth, Saints took all three points winning two goals to one and we are now looking to the Cherries for help.

Though Southampton deserved to win overall, the Cherries late onslaught so nearly gave them an equaliser. A disappointed Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe bemoaned mistakes from his side which cost them dear following the tie.

Talking to BBC Eddie said.

“The goals we conceded were big mistakes and we got punished for them. I am disappointed with how we played, it was a game we could and should have won if we play like we can, but we didn’t.”

That said, and no matter how much our spirit has been lifted, we are now looking for Bournemouth to do us a good turn.

On Saturday Bournemouth are at home to Swansea. We need them to take victory which will give us a boost when we take on Everton at Goodison Park. We play Everton in the late game on Saturday and will know the result before our match kicks off.

A win would leave us knowing that if we beat Everton we will leap above Swansea in the table. That would then mean a win in the next match would leave us safe.

Well nearly, as then only Stoke could catch us, and that will only happen if they win their next tie.

So come on Bournemouth. You want another chance to win at St Mary’s then give us a helping hand on Saturday, please.
