Southampton’s Mauricio Pellegrino is being linked with former player Guido Carrillo.

Sky Sports reported earlier this afternoon that Pellegrino was hoping to get a move for Carrillo sanctioned as he looks to bolster our frontline options given the lack of goals so far this campaign.

The 26 year old Argentinian has made 22 appearances this year for Monaco, but he’s only featured twice in Ligue 1 and the suggestion is he’s looking to move on for greater game time.

Pellegrino worked with him during his two year stay at Estudiantes between 2013-15 and Sky suggest that he could be the ideal man to play ‘target’ alongside Charlie Austin when he returns from injury.

He’s said to be valued at around the £15million mark but following Virgil van Dijk’s £75million switch to Liverpool, the fee won’t be an issue.

Since moving to Monaco he has 20 goals in over 50 appearances but hasn’t yet been capped by his country.

Speculation linking us with a return for Theo Walcott continues to tick by as well and it’s believed we remain favourites to do a deal with Arsenal on that front.
