With speculation this week suggesting that Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl had targeted 20-year-old Standard Liege midfielder Moussa Djenepo and was mulling over whether to make a reported £20million offer, it seems something has become lost in translation given recent reports.

Southampton Eye 20 y/o International Midfielder – Reports

The original claim about the Malian international winger was simply that Southampton were interested and potentially ‘willing’ to make a move for the player over the summer, but according to Sport Witness who lean on further press reports from Belgium, the initial claims have morphed into a guaranteed offer of £20million for the player, with his current club absolutely denying that any contact has been made at all.

With how quickly this rumour has become complicated and blown up to be a little bit controversial, I think we can safely assume an agent’s game is at play and we have no interest in the player at all.
