Manager Ronald Koeman has said he felt the three nil victory over West Bromwich Albion at St Mary’s last Saturday was very comfortable.

Picking up a third successive home win through goals from James Ward-Prowse and a Dusan Tadic efforts, Koeman was delighted to see Southampton starting to find some momentum in their performances again.

Speaking to saintsfc in his post game press interviews, the gaffer explained.

‘I`m very pleased. I’m very pleased about the way we played today. I think it was a comfortable win. It’s not easy to score three goals against West Brom – we know, we have that experience. It’s difficult, but ok if you score so fast in the game, with a fantastic free-kick of Prowsey, that makes it more easy.’

Following on quickly from the midweek two nil victory over Watford, Koeman knows that confidence is once more high and back to back wins can’t be sniffed at.

‘We had a difficult week after the disappointment in the FA Cup against Crystal Palace, but I think the important thing was that we were focused last Wednesday and also today, because that makes the difference. Six points out of two home games and two clean sheets is very positive. Sometimes you have a difficult period and you have to accept that. You have to keep working, because that’s the only key to come back to good results and that’s good and that’s positive, and we like to go on.’

With youngster and England Under 21 captain JWP getting the brace on the day to score his first goals of the current season, he obviously came in for praise from Koeman.

‘He’s training a lot on that quality, and he’s a good player for free-kicks, corner kicks, and finally he scored today. It was a very important goal, fast in the game, but that makes the total difference today. It’s a big difference between 1-0 up and 2-0 up. The belief of the opponents is not so big then, after 2-0. If it’s 1-0 it’s a different feeling, and that makes everybody still more comfortable. In the second half we controlled it, we had good concentration, focused until the last second and you need that to win this game against West Brom.’

With Dusan Tadic coming on as a second half substitute and finishing the scoring off on the day, Koeman added.

‘Again, he had the same impact what he showed against Watford and that’s really the competition what we need and, ok, if you get the chance you have to show it.’
