It’s being reported tonight that Inter Milan have accepted a £10.2 million offer from Southampton for 20 year Brazilian midfielder Phillipe Coutinho.

However it appears Saints are waiting to see if Liverpool will match the offer.

Coutinho has started three games for Inter this season and has been capped once by his country, however he has already expressed a desire to stay at the San Siro so it’s unclear if he would welcome a move to the Premier League. The sensible option would be yes, otherwise why have we continued our interest?

In our favour is the fact that Coutinho has previously played for Pochettino during a loan spell at Espanyol.

  • Beginning to look as though there is a chance we could get our man. Just have to wait and see. Quietly excited by this.

  • I keep slapping myself to check i am not dreaming. Nobody would have believed we would be linked with so many good players.

  • Our trouble is that we have money and weaknesses in a couple of positions. Hoping that this is a good omen for our prospect of landing someone useful.

  • He is a good player and it will be good for your team. You guys may beat relegation afterall. But Liverpool appear a more decent move for him,so better dont dream much,@VSrednwhite.
