A short time ago, Southampton confirmed that an agreement had been reached with RB Leipzig that now sees Danny Rohl appointed to new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s coaching staff.

The 29-year-old heads into St Mary’s Stadium as Hasenhuttl’s Number 2 and he takes the tag of First Team Assistant Manager. He held a similar role at the Bundesliga club, working alongside our new gaffer previously and he played his part in helping them to a second-place finish in the German top flight back in the campaign of 2016/17.

Rohl was in fact on the bench for Hasenhuttl’s first game in charge, the defeat last weekend to Cardiff City, but he can now officially start work on the training ground now that an official agreement has been reached between both sides.

Reacting to the news on social media, it’s fair to say few Southampton fans have heard of him – I hadn’t, but I wasn’t that aware of Hasenhuttl either – but the welcome was warm and everyone hopes he helps speed up the impact on the squad as we look to turn our form around.
