Southampton keeper Kelvin Davis is poised to join Premier League side West Ham.

The Southampton captain’s contract expires this summer and Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola wants Davis as a back up to Robert Green.

Davis is understood to be having a medical with the East London outfit, and West Ham are preparing a bid for the ex-Sunderland keeper.

The 32-year-old had been linked with League One rivals Leeds United, but Zola fronts the hunt for the experienced keeper who won Southampton’s player of the season last year.

  • Sorry about this guys. I wish you the best of luck for the future, is such a shame a team like Southampton hit such hard times. I think l be great back-up for us.

  • Jesus, its all looking pretty sad for Soton, are the staff currently getting paid?

  • Davis is a great ‘keeper, but with him and Surman leaving are you going to have anyone left who can do the business this year?
