Kelvin Davis has rejected a move to Premier League side West Ham United.

Davis, 32, decided to remain at St. Mary’s when the club was finally taken over by the Swiss group, fronted by businessman Markus Liebherr.

The Southampton captain had been training with the Hammers, and was expected to put pen to paper as his contract expired at St. Mary’s.

However, the ex-Sunderland keeper opted for regular football with the Saints and signed a three-year contract with the Hampshire club.

Davis told the official website his reason for staying at Southampton: ‘The decision for me was between the opportunity of first-team football at Southampton or the chance to play Premier League football and I have made my choice to stay at Southampton.’
