Southampton fans have been reacting well on social media to the news the club have signed Ramello Mitchell on an academy scholarship.

The official Twitter page announced they have signed the highly-rated teenager from Birmingham City. He follows Che Adams, who also left the Blues to become a Saints player.

The south coast side also claims they had to beat tough competition from other Premier League sides for the 16-year-old’s signature.

Mitchell said: “I’m really pleased. It’s a lovely club. I want to try my best here and do what I can do. Ever since I was young I’ve always wanted to play football. I haven’t had another focus, it’s my dream.

“Straight away, when I looked at the club there was a friendly feeling. It seemed like the right place for me to progress as a footballer, and go on with my journey.

“The club have produced world class players; players who you aspire to be like. I really believe I could be one of those players.”

It would seem fans are happy with the business the club are doing this summer and took to Twitter to share their reactions to the latest addition to the ranks.

One stated ‘welcome to the Saints FC family’ whilst another insisted the ‘energy around this club at the moment’ is fantastic.
