Dexter Blackstock scored the winning goal for Peter Taylor’s Football League under 21’s squad last night, as they took on the Serie ‘B’ counterparts, in the annual Anglo-Italian fixture between the leagues best youngsters.

Dexter was a half time substitute in the match coming on for Watford’s Ashley Young.

Playing in the more familiar role of striker, rather than goalkeeper, he scored a poachers goal with a close range finish, after Derby striker Izale McLeod’s shot came back of the cross bar.

The Football League team should have already been ahead by the time Dexter scored the winner, as they outplayed the Italians for large periods but failed to convert their chances.

  • Another reason why it is outrageous that Peter Taylor is not being considered for the England job. Thankfully, I’m not English…
