Disappointing For Burley

Southampton manager George Burley was disappointed with the defeat to Stoke.

It was Saints second defeat in a week, knocking their promotion hopes even further.

Burley told the official site: ‘It was very disappointing. Stoke were hard to break down but we took the lead and were looking to build on it.

‘But then we conceded from a set-play. You give people players to mark but the lad was left on his own.

‘Then for their second Jhon Viafara got a knock in the face and stopped. We all stopped and they played a ball through the centre and scored.

‘I don’t we did enough going forward, especially in the second half. We were not really under pressure and were looking to win the game.

‘We had a lot of passing and movement but we did not get enough crosses and shots which is how you win games.’

He concluded: ‘We are going to have to work hard to get back in the top six but we can do it.’
