Was a player for us for 2 years between 2005 and 2007 he was a player blighted by injuries but a player with considerable talents when fit enough to play, in the end he notched up around 40 appearances before going into footballing obscurity in France.

A talented Saint who`s less fortunate luck denied him the chance to become a fan favourite, which I believe he could have become? I remember snippets of quality from him when we played Plymouth a few years ago.

I have always wanted to know just what happened to Djamel Belmadi, whether he overcame his injury problems and made a career somewhere else, or whether he slowly went further into footballs abyss.

Well he never overcame those injuries and wasn`t largely successful since having his contract cancelled, after playing for Valenciennes he hung up his boots, aged 34.

Perhaps as a player he didn`t quite make it, but as a manager? The chance to pass on some of those skills to a younger generation is something that a fair few clubs would relish, and one club did – step forward Qatari league team Lekhwiya.

Lekhwiya don`t exactly sound exciting, but football in Qatar is actually quite an attractive prospect for many footballers, huge salaries being offered by wealthy tycoons looking to build top leagues in the oil rich middle east.

One of those players is Aruna Dindane, the former blues striker has signed for Lekhwiya and will of course be a huge attacking option for Belmadi.

I for one wish him all the best and hope to see him manage a club some day here in England, perhaps one day he could even come back as manager for us?
