Manager Mauricio Pochettino has ruled out Adam Lallana or Luke Shaw leaving the club despite press speculation to the opposite.

The first transfer rumoury nonsense over the Christmas break concerned young left back Luke Shaw has has repeatedly been linked with moves away to everybody and sundry over the past 12 months.

It’s not the first time he’s been linked to Chelsea and when recent rumours resurfaced, Pochettino cut them down quite quickly.

‘The player wants to stay at the club. He has made a statement about this himself. Other clubs can watch him and show their interest but he does not want to go anywhere and we do not want to sell him.’

In the same interview to the press, Pochettino said that Shaw wasn’t alone in having to now deal with mounting speculation because of how they have performed in the Premiership and with a spotlight growing on the club as a whole, this would and should be a regular thing – obviously whilst results recently might not have gone for us – Poch knows that if players are being linked with a move to clubs playing in the Champions League then simply put it should equal that we are doing well.

Whilst speaking about the positives of filling the back pages, Poch is quick to add though that somebody of the age of Shaw, rumours such as this aren’t helpful because he still needs to focus on developing and growing.

Next up is Adam Lallana and these links have surfaced a bit more recently when looking at the headlines, an concern a possible £15million move to Manchester United.

When speaking to the press Pochettino didn’t give these suggestions much sway either, as he said that Lallana had enjoyed the perfect week as he’s got himself hitched on Christmas Eve, played well against Cardiff and enjoyed training prior to that because he didn’t have a day off.

‘He’s had a perfect week. He trained, he went off to get married and he went back to training. Not one day off. Adam and others are going to stay with us, there is no intention to sell them. Adam has clearly said he’s happy with us, he’s shown he’s happy at Southampton and Southampton have no plans to sell him.’
