With plenty if frustration and disappointment to be spread around following Southampton’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend, midfielder Mario Lemina was another player who appeared to catch the eye for all the wrong reasons.

Having got all 90 minutes under his belt in a team-wide poor showing, plenty of fans took to social media to question his performance and with a number of fans wondering why he wasn’t substituted in the match to try and give us a better foothold in the game, a number of other fans took the opportunity to bemoan his consistency.

With one fan saying he either looks like a Champions League quality player or a non-league player, another accused him of going missing during important matches – the bottom line is Jurgen Klopp presumably would’ve picked out Lemina as a threat and he proved himself to be anything but.

He was far from alone in the game but it’s absolutely understandable as to why those fans reacted like that as we’re seeing it way too often, from way too many this season.
