Jason Euell and Bradley Wright-Phillips have been offered new contracts in a bid to keep the duo at the club.

It was thought that the two would be exiting St. Mary’s following the clubs relegation to League One.

The duo’s contracts run out next month, and they could leave the Hampshire side for nothing to join another club.

But Southampton have offered the pair new contracts with reduced wages to try and keep the experienced players on the south coast.

Head Coach Mark Wotte told the official website: ‘We have spoken to Jason Euell and Bradley Wright-Phillips and offered them less money of course, but we think they could do well for us in League One.

‘However, they have their own things to think about and can sign for anyone on a free, but they are also willing to wait to see what happens here. That shows me they like the club and don’t want to leave on the back of relegation and they want to do a better job for us next season.

‘I think they recognise this is a great club, not just because of St Mary’s and the pitch but because of the fans as well. They were massive for us in the last couple of weeks and were so supportive of us. We want to do well for them next season.’
