Jason Euell has been praised by Dutch boss Jan Poortvliet as his comeback to the first team has boosted the club. Euell has been out for months, nursing a shoulder injury which had ruled him out for the whole start of the season.

His first appearance this season came in the 1-1 draw with Coventry on the 28th October. Euell`s experience is exactly what the young side is looking for. Euell has been a professional for 13 years; starting his career with Wimbledon. He then enjoyed a five year spell with Charlton Athletic, followed by a short spell at Middlesbrough. The Jamaican definitely has the C.V to give this young side a boost.

The 31 year olds return to fitness has been admired by the Dutch Boss: “I’m glad that he is available to us because I think we saw what it was like when he was not there,”

‘He enables us to break out in the way that we want to and I think Jason has been a very useful player in the role that he has played.’

Other fitness updates will certainly boost the Saints. Morgan Schneiderlin will be back for Wolves at home this Saturday. Striker Jordan Robertson, on loan from Sheffield United is recovering from illness.

On loan from Millwall, Ryan Smith is still not fit; whereas deadline day deal Romain Gasmi will be 100% fit soon.

Michael Svensson remains out, yet he is making big strides to return for the Saints in the heart of defence.
