Southampton fans expressed their excitement on social media after Che Adams’ dream start for the club.

He scored after just 116 seconds into his debut and The Saints fans are eager to see more.

The new recruit gathered the ball, turned his defender and fired into the bottom corner to put the team ahead in the opening stages of their first pre-season game of the summer against Austrian side SCR Altach.

Manfred Fischer pulled one back for the opponents in the 26th minute and despite a quick start, Saints had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The Austrian team are further along in their preparations as their league campaign gets underway next weekend.

Ralph Hasenhuttl changed all 11 players at half-time, despite it disrupting the flow of the game it did allow the youngsters in the squad to gain match practice.

The Saints now return from Austria and look to their next match against Preston at Deepdale on Saturday.

Some Southampton fans took to Twitter to share their keenness to see Adams scoring many goals like that at St Mary’s in the Premier League next season.

One stated ‘the first of many I hope’ whilst another felt it is an ‘exciting season ahead’ for Saints.
