Southampton could at least take some positives from the recent defeat against Manchester City, but last Saturday’s clash with Everton quickly took on the ‘six pointer’ outlook and in losing the game 2-1, many fans will believe the only positive was that the score wasn’t far higher.
Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl certainly pulled few punches as he spoke post-game about the lack of quality and confidence within the group as we continue to struggle, although he did take the improvements in the second half where Danny Ings had us back on level terms for a period.
With the November international break now in full flow, the fallout from the game continues and it seems there’s plenty of blame to go around and although plenty is focused once again on our backline, there’s certainly a growing annoyance at Hasenhuttl’s own decisions when it comes to the formation and our tactics during games now.
We do not have premier league centre backs, haven’t had any in years. Any good team is built from the back, too soft and too easy to score against. Formation changes hide it,but it will always come back to keeping ball out of our own net-not good enough #saintsfc

Also, the midfield are not good enough to protect the centre backs or set up profitable attacks. I include Romeu, JWP, Armstrong & even PEH here, although the captain at least shows some fight
A good January window essential for our survival #saintsfc— sfcpaulhuttl (@sfcpaul100) November 10, 2019
Ralph’s biggest problem is not playing a system that suits the players, playing players out of position, and changing formations / partnerships on a regular basis. He has to play a settled side and formation, with players in their right positions, or he deserves criticism.

It’s almost as though his identical twin is now in charge as last season he was so different in his formations and tactics/clear thinking it’s not same person in charge ! #confused

…and he chose Armstrong as RWB and Cedric as LWB. On what planet was that ever a good idea?

I hope at the very least someone on the board asks him to explain yesterday's tactical omnishambles. You can't give full backing to any repeat of that nonsense.

Do we even have a board? Clubs a mess from top to bottom. Feel for Ralph, players have been pathetic and he has no support from above.

I think the impact of the summer’s events with Rohl’s departure were crucial.

Is Hasenhuttl still the right man for the job?
Yes, he needs more time
No, he's out of ideas
