The other day I covered the latest piece of speculation to hit Southampton and the south coast – a loose transfer link with former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
If you didn’t see the news, and to save me overly repeating you can click the link for the details – if you can call them details.
Former City Star On Southampton’s Radar & An Old Rangers Rumour Returns
I said at the time it sounded more like putting out the feelers and the Mirror covering his quotes simply decided we would be a good go-to club owing to our issues in finding the back of the net, and I fully expect after the weekend to see him linked with other clubs as these types of stories these days tend to have a ‘club a day’ feel to them on the rumour mill.
Dzeko would, however, be a statement signing of sorts given his career so far, but even the fans who took the time to respond to the suggestions on social media weren’t exactly taken in when it came to the possibility of it happening.
Imagine thinking that we will sign Edin Dzeko, FIFA19 working its magic already. #SaintsFC

Does Dzeko play centre back now then? #saintsfc

If #saintsfc really are ‘interested’ in #Dzeko, it truly shows how deluded those running the club are. No way he leaves #ASRoma in the CL for a relegation scrap in the Premier League…

Who’d really swap Rome for western shore for starters? Then think about the footy… ????????

Despite it being just a rumour, and despite his "advancing years" if #SaintsFC signed Edin Dzeko I'd be absolutely elated. Phenomenal goalscorer.

As much as I doubt there's much weight behind the Dzeko rumours, you'd have to be insane not to want him at #SaintsFC, he would make a massive difference

I can’t see it happening but Dzeko would be an incredible signing. #SaintsFC

Difficult to disagree with the sentiments on show, given I share them.
