Former Southampton striker Dexter Blackstock condemned promotion rivals Preston to a 1-0 defeat against QPR.

QPR boss John Gregory said after the game: ‘Dexter’s goal was probably worthy of a slightly better setting and a slightly better game.

‘His goal was truly outstanding, and his first touch was sublime. To score 11 goals in a struggling team is very commendable.’

The defeat leaves Preston fourth, 5 points clear of Southampton in 7th.

  • I can’t see us catching Preston, we need Wolves, Cardiff and Stoke to fall away from the scene.
