Any Southampton fans wondering if former player Adam Lallana might be returning to the club this month from Liverpool as he continues to recover from his most recent injury, have had that question answered as manager Jurgen Klopp is apparently not open to the idea.

The now 30-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs as the January transfer window neared, and obviously at some level, Southampton had been mooted as a possible destination for the second half of the year owing to his previous ties with us as an Academy graduate.

His move to Liverpool back in 2014 could certainly have gone smoother from our perspective, but following his apology and his own words about how he wished he’d handled things differently, there are those fans who would’ve forgiven him and forgotten if he was to pull the shirt on once again.

Despite that speculation though, Sky Sports have poured cold water on the suggestions, claiming that Klopp feels he can be fully reintegrated into the group (two substitute showings over Christmas already) in the second half of the year and he’d prefer that to happen, than Lallana boosting his fitness elsewhere.
