Earlier this evening, Southampton confirmed that we had struck an agreement with Dutch Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar over the permanent transfer of out of favour midfielder Jordy Clasie.
The 28-year-old has spent the last two season’s away from St Mary’s Stadium, taking in loan spells with both Club Brugge and Feyenoord, and having fallen out of favour, the £8million arrival back in the summer of 2015 brings the curtain down with 42 starting appearances to his name, with a further seven showings from the bench. In that time he contributed two goals.
Wishing you all the very best for the future, @JordyClasie!

It was always going to be only a matter of time before he departed in some fashion this summer and although Southampton haven’t published a figure for the deal, we all know we’ve taken a hit here and Sky Sports state that it’s simply a nominal fee but does include a future sell on clause.
Sadly again, this is just one of our more recent deals that haven’t worked out for either side, despite his early promise and plenty are happy to wish him well for the future.
Good luck Jordy, we won't forget that goal against Arsenal en route to the league cup final! ????

Freeing up the wage bill to bring home Bale I assume?

Cos he's wasn't good enough to displace Romeu hoijberg or JWP out of the first team.

Good player, just perhaps a little lightweight for the Premier League, but still, I liked his game. All the best Jordy.

Another move away that is good news for all parties concerned. Onwards and upwards for everyone
