Fry: Sale of Southampton ‘unlikely’

Administrator Mark Fry has revealed that the sale of the club is going to go down to the wire.

Fry told BBC Radio Solent: ‘It’s very unlikely a transaction [for the club] will be completed.’

The favourite to buy the club is the Pinnacle group led by Saints legend Matthew Le Tissier, but the consortium have failed to deliver the goods, and the whole transaction has dragged on.

Nevertheless, Fry is still confident that a sale can be reached and will fight for the club right down to the last minute.

‘I’m still working on it and if I wasn’t confident, I think I would have packed my bags by now. But I’m pretty sure there will be a bid fairly shortly.’
