With the build-up continuing to Southampton’s Premier League clash with Cardiff City this coming Saturday, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed that on loan Liverpool striker Danny Ings will now be sidelined for two to three weeks with a hamstring injury.

Meeting with the media earlier this afternoon to discuss the upcoming tie, Hasenhuttl confirmed the news as reported by Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old was substituted in the clash against Burnley in our previous game, lasting only 27 minutes into the tie before Shane Long came on in his place, and having been ruled out of the Cardiff clash, the expectation is he’ll miss the Arsenal and Fulham matches later on in February.

It’s obviously a blow for Hasenhuttl’s plans for the game as Ings has scored seven goals in 18 top flight matches for us in the season of 2018/19, but with improvements from other players in recent times, we should be confident of picking up the win and all three points to move five points clear from them, and the relegation zone.
