Southampton are back in Premier League action later this evening as we make the trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford.
With huge disappointment on Saturday given our away defeat to Newcastle United, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will be hoping for a far better performance in this one and a return to winning ways to take us one step closer to being mathematically safe from relegation in the campaign of 2018/19.
Speaking to Sky Sports as he met with the press to preview the game on Monday, Hasenhuttl explained that he told the squad to be more ‘aggressive’ in this game and he wanted to see the players put in a ‘perfect performance’.
“The message must be that a little bit of playing football is not enough for us, so we have to be aggressive again. We have to work harder than we did on Saturday in the first half because otherwise against Watford, a very strong team, it is again a big problem to take something. I think we have the quality to win there or to take a point, but we need a really, really clinical and perfect performance.”
With Watford sat in eighth place, they will be looking for back to back victories to take seventh spot back and continue their own hopes for European football next campaign, so it’s going to be another tricky tie but if we are on song again we know what we are capable of doing.
