With new Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl making no secret about the fact he intended to trim the group during the January transfer window, we have already seen the departures of Steven Davis, Manolo Gabbiadini and Wesley Hoedt, and it’s believed that with Everton reportedly circling Cedric Soares, he will be the next one to leave St Mary’s Stadium.

The 27-year-old Portuguese European Championship winner was held in high regard for most of his time following his reported £4.7million switch from Sporting back in the summer of 2015 and he had a lot of fans as he notched up just over 100 appearances. This season in particular though his form has been heavily criticised as we struggled once again in the Premier League and although Hasenhuttl has called on him pretty regularly following his arrival with us, many feel it’s through a lack of alternative choices more than anything – Yan Valery takes the right-hand side and with Ryan Bertrand to return from injury, Soares short spell on the left would be over.

With the rumour mill saying that Everton have been sniffing around him, the Daily Echo have reported that as well as looking to strengthen the group before the window closes, we are encouraging offers for the right back.

Fraser Forster is again mentioned as another we’d quite like to move on to help balance the books, but that doesn’t come as a surprise either.
