Earlier today Southampton headed into our final friendly of the summer against FC Koln at St Mary’s Stadium ahead of the big Premier League kickoff next weekend when we make the trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley.
With plenty of fans wondering if manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s selection on the day would give any major indications as to what the first proper line-up of the year would be, there was one notable absence – the manager himself.
Ahead of the game, the club took to their social media accounts to inform fans that our Austrian gaffer wouldn’t be in attendance today owing to a trip to the hospital to undergo a minor procedure following a leg injury he’d sustained.

Naturally, fans were quick to wish him a speedy recovery and with the transfer window still open for a couple of days, plenty hoped it was all a ruse and he was elsewhere securing more signings – although I don’t think those hoping it would be Gareth Bale will get their wish.
With that said, I’m not sure where the quit panic came from?
Don’t lie we know he’s in Madrid bringing @GarethBale11 back to saints
