Many Southampton fans have been sticking by midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg despite dropping hints that he could leave Southampton in the near future.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to both Tottenham Hotspur and Everton recently and with many of our top stars leaving the clubs over the past few seasons, it may not come as a surprise to many.
Will Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave Southampton?
Yes
No
Speaking to Sport 1, Hojbjerg admitted that he wants to play at an even higher level, and made it clear that he wants to win the Premier League and the Champions League at some point in his career.
However, he insisted that he was not saying goodbye to Southampton. But stressed that the club knows what he wants.
Despite his remarks, supporters were sympathetic towards the Danish middle man and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan hopes that others do not turn on him if he does decide to leave, while another respected his views for wanting to further his career.
I beg the fans donโt turn on him, he has been respectful the whole times heโs been here and I think itโs fair he can leave, it allows JWP to become captain and means we can upgrade in his position, canโt keep every player we sign ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ

Fair play to him and any player who wants to pursue their career to another level, don’t we all so why should football be any different. He’s been a valuable asset and it’s his time to move on. Good luck to him. Easy to say but just pay no attention to any grief from non fans ๐

Never get why fans completely turn on players for wanting to achieve more. If I went to play in Germany Iโd want to win the Bundesliga and the champions league I wouldnโt stay at Frankfurt to do so. Players want to win trophies

I don’t think that’s an unfair comment, the reality is #Saintsfc need to push on and start showing that it’s possible to win trophies at the club. We start winning and players won’t want to move on its that simple, we are a stepping stone club and I think people need to accept it

good player, always respectful and plays with heart on his sleeve! be a shame to see him go!

Let him go, got no problem with a player wanted to strive for bigger things. However, if he thinks heโs winning any trophies at Spurs or Everton then heโs in for a shock! ๐ #saintsfc

Genuinely one of the nicest and most respectful footballers Iโve ever met. Would be a real shame to see him go @hojbjerg23 https://t.co/vERLflzk4Y

Listen I know it’s not good that we’re losing a very good player but he’s been more honest than most in this situation so fair play. Also, he’s not irreplaceable. #SaintsFC https://t.co/fX1K0EW1FQ
