Much earlier in the transfer window, the rumour mill had Southampton tentatively linked with a potential move for Bordeaux star Francois Kamano.
The 23-year-old versatile attacker played in seven positions for the French Ligue 1 side during the season of 2018/19, scoring 11 times in 45 matches and he also has 31 caps for his country, Guinea, with a return of 6 goals.
After the initial splurge of speculation at the end of last month, it all went quiet with others like Moussa Djenepo seeing progress, but it seems that the player is now being linked with Monaco so we again getting loose references to him.
Inside Football have covered reports coming from Foot Mercato that say Monaco are firming up their interest in the player and that he remains available for the right price this summer. Monaco were reportedly in for him back in the January window but a deal couldn’t be agreed.
If Southampton do have an interest we will need to move quick here, but the question when the speculation first surfaced was, did manager Ralph Hasenhuttl have a particular position in mind or was it his jack of all trades approach that attracted him. Given he’s predominantly a left winger, I’m not so sure we’d still be interested after Djenepo’s arrival.
